Dr Kevin Huang was brought up and educated in Australia.  He did his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Queensland before doing his residency at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.  Dr Huang completed his orthopaedic training in Queensland in 2002 and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (Orthopaedics) and a fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association.

Dr Huang did an additional 18 months fellowship training in hand and upper limb surgery.  Twelve months were dedicated to problems of the wrist and hand (including microsurgery) at the Sydney Hand Unit based at Sydney Hospital & St Luke's Hospital.  Dr Huang then spent a further 6 months completing an upper limb fellowship at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane with a primary focus on shoulder and elbow problems.

Dr Huang has a private practice at the Mater Private Hospital (South Brisbane) and the North West Private Hospital (Everton Park).  He served as the Deputy Director of Orthopaedics at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in 2003 and continues his public work there as a Visiting Medical Officer.

Dr Huang has special interests in:

  • Joint arthroplasty of the shoulder, elbow, wrist & hand
  • Arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, elbow & wrist
  • Open & reconstructive surgery of the upper limb
  • Surgery for rheumatoid & other inflammatory conditions
  • Nerve decompressions & grafting
  • Tendon repairs and transfers
  • Microsurgery
  • Upper limb trauma surgery

Dr Huang does see some paediatric patients but does not hold an appointment at a paediatric hospital.  In many cases this means that he is unable to operate on children under the age of fourteen.
